Leather Jacket

Today I finally pulled my leather jacket out of the closet to wear to work. It was low 40’s this morning, so I figured it was as good a time as any. I drove in to work, not thinking about it much until I got here…

“How long HAVE I had this jacket?” I thought back…

It was my senior year in college; I was an RA in the freshman boy’s dorm (Oakwood Slater Hall) when one of the guys in my hall came in with a brand new leather jacket. My roommate and I both commented on how cool it looked and he told us of his great find.

“I just got this at American Eagle! You won’t believe what I paid for it!”

“How much?” We asked, figuring he was going to brag about being able to lay down a cool $200 on a jacket and not even care.

“Forty Bucks!!” He exclaimed. “They’re having a big sale!”

B-Walt (Brian Walter, but we called him B-Walt) and I looked at each other and said, “let’s go!”

And off we ran to the greatest sale of our lives. We both found leather jackets, and I picked up a $5 belt buckle that was marked $5 off so I got it for free.

That was a day that will live forever in the infamy of my mind… 6 years ago I bought this jacket, and it’s still in great condition. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing this jacket for another 6 years because I look soo good in it. :-)
